On Monday, October 5, 2009, some of Broadway's brightest talents will join together for the Second Annual Broadway in South Africa Benefit Concert, featuring world-premiere songs based on essays from the children they work with in South Africa. Special guest performers include Deborah Cox, Shoshana Bean, and Kate Shindle.

Over the course of two weeks in January 2009, Broadway in South Africa conducted 54 hours of hands-on workshops and programming for over 400 under privileged children in the townships of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban. This video was shot during Broadway in South Africa's inaugural program. Broadway in South Africa uses arts education to empower youth with skills to empower themselves and their communities.

They were able to see first-hand how powerful arts education can be as a tool for success.  In addition to building confidence, self-esteem  and self-awareness, they were also able to increase literacy, bridge the gap between local communities and, most importantly, give more than 400 children the ability to dream of a future beyond poverty, child abuse, gang violence and the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Broadway in South Africa, is excited to offer BWW readers a special discount code when purchasing tickets.  Until Friday October 2nd, all orchestra seats are 25% off (Orig. $100, Now $75) and additional seats are 50% off (Orig. $60, Now $30). Code "BESA" is redeemable via phone: 212-864-5400 or at the Symphony Space Box Office. A limited number of VIP tickets (which include a commemorative gift bag & after party with the cast) are also available.  To purchase email:  info@broadwayinsouthafrica.org and for general tickets and more information visit: www.broadwayinsouthafrica.org.
