TV: A Special Sneak Peek At 'A/V Club'

BroadwayWorld.com is pleased to bring you this special sneak peek at The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee stars Sarah Saltzberg and Jesse Tyler Ferguson star in the new independent pilot "A/V Club," which will be screened as an official selection of the New York Television Festival on September 14th and 16th.

"AV Club" will be presented by Rebecca Feldman and Saltzberg, founding members of The Farm (the original production team behind The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee). The pilot features Saltzberg, who portrays Logainne Schwartzandgrubenierre, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who originated the role of Leaf Coneybear and who stars fall in the CBS sitcom "The Class."

Also featured are original characters from C-R-E-P-U-S-C-U-L-E, the downtown play that later developed into the Tony award winning musical, and puts them in a new environment where they are equally passionate and competitive: 'the A/V Club,'" according to press notes.

A/V Club "is a subversive, irreverent comedy with heart. The middleschoolers, played by adults, are each gifted in their own way but misunderstood, seeking refuge in this underground organization. In the pilot episode, newly inducted A/V club member Beth Marguiles finds herself the deciding vote in the club's next project – Logainne's chicken patty expose or Tanya's pop-culture fluff piece. Looking to make new friends, Beth commits to both projects, not understanding that she is violating one of the sacred tenets of the club. Is Beth destined to become an outcast among outcasts?"

"A/V Club" will screen as part of the New York Television Festival "Comedy 2" program on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 2:45 pm and Saturday, Sept. 16 at 6:15 pm at The Director's Guild Theater (110 West 57th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues).

The second annual NYTVF is showcasing twenty-two original pilots as part of its annual Independent Pilot Competition and is being held in midtown Manhattan from September 12th through September 17th. In addition to pilot screenings, the 2006 NYTVF is also presenting panel discussions aimed at both industry and general public audiences, a series of red-carpet network premieres, and parties to celebrate television production in New York City Winners in the Independent Pilot Competition will be determined by a panel of celebrity jurors.
