Last year, BroadwayWorld.com, the largest theater website on the Internet, launched a comprehensive Student Database listing college and university performing arts programs across the country. This free service makes it easier for prospective students by showcasing programs searchable by schools, location, degrees and concentrations.

With the new school year in full gear, BWW has updated the fully-interactive Student Show Calendar with 2011-2012 student productions. We have also made it easy for schools to upload photos, videos, cast lists, articles and other media content for each of their shows. In addition, BWW will be combing through all content regularly and will launch weekly feature stories highlighting productions locally and nationally that have provided us with this extra content. ***

For this week's edition, we head to the sunshine state to spotlight the Theatre Conservatory at the University of Central Florida in Orlando! The Theatre Department at UCF blends extensive classroom education with practical production opportunities focusing on developing "student artists who are sensitive, aware, and total human beings." The Theatre Department at UCF offers BAs in Theatre Studies and BFAs in Acting, Musical Theatre, Stage Management and Design & Technology. Students can also opt to minor in Theatre Studies or Dance. The school also offers graduate studies and students can pursue a MFA in Acting or Theatre for Young Audiences.

UCF's 2011-2012 performance season kicked off early in August with an encore run of 'Veronica's Room' and continued strong with 'The Pajama Game', 'Savage in Limbo' and 'Gem of the Ocean' to name a few. On deck following the holiday break is the Tony Award-winning play 'The Last Night of Ballyhoo', 'Bury The Dead', 'Ragtime' (being presented as a joint presentation with The Department of Music), and 'Shove! Push', UCF's sixth-annual dance concert featuring the works of students and faculty. To learn more about UCF's peformance season and to buy tickets, click here. Also make sure to stop by the school's video and production archives to take a behind-the-scenes peek at past productions!

Congratulations to all at the Theatre Conservatory at UCF on your tremendous efforts and on being chosen as this week's spotlight! We wish everyone much success during the upcoming year!
