In anticipation of the live 66th Annual Emmy Award broadcast on NBC on Monday, August 25th, BWW will be spotlighting the Emmy nominated TV performances of some of Broadway's biggest stars. If you want to follow along and interact with all of BroadwayWorld's Emmy coverage, check out #BWWEmmys on Twitter.

Today, we take a look back at the incredible career of award-winning stage and television icon Mandy Patinkin; from Broadway shows including EVITA, SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE, and THE SECRET GARDEN; to television dramas like CHICAO HOPE, CRIMINAL MINDS, and HOMELAND; to films including YENTL, ALIEN NATION, and THE PRINCESS BRIDE.

Mandy first rose to prominence on stage as the revolutionary Che in the original cast of EVITA, opposite his longtime friend and frequent collaborator, Patti LuPone. For his role in the Andrew Lloyd Webber-Tim Rice musical, Patinkin won the 1980 Tony Award, and became one of the most sought after stars in both New York and Hollywood.

After appearing on screen in YENTL, and in the film adaptation of RAGTIME, Mandy returned to the Broadway stage in the iconic title role in Stephen Sondheim's SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. Since, he has appeared on Broadway in a handful of shows (THE SECRET GARDEN, FALSETTOS, THE WILD PARTY) and concerts, garnering a total of three Tony and seven Drama Desk nominations.

After an incredible introduction to the Broadway community, Mandy went West and had a run of successful movie roles, including ALIEN NATION, DICK TRACY, and the cult-favorite THE PRINCESS BRIDE. His Inigo Montoya is still one of the most quoted characters in Hollywood history.

In 1994, Mandy became a member of his first TV show, as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger on the hospital drama CHICAGO HOPE. The show brought Mandy his first two Emmy nominations, including a win in 1995. He followed that up with an Emmy nom for a guest spot on THE LARRY SANDERS SHOW in '96. Mandy also starred on TV in DEAD LIKE ME and CRIMINAL MINDS, and now as CIA agent Saul Berenson on HOMELAND, for which he has received two-consecutive Emmy nominations.

In addition to TV, movies, and plays, Mandy has released seven critically acclaimed albums, and can regularly be seen around the country with his various concert tours.

As an admitted Mandy fan, I have put together five videos to showcase some of his career highlights. First, there is his most famous scene from THE PRINCESS BRIDE. Next, watch a compilation of songs from EVITA, followed by the incredible "Finishing the Hat" from SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE. After that, relive scenes from Season 3 of HOMELAND, for which Mandy is currently nominated. Then finally watch BroadwayWorld's Opening Night coverage, complete with show highlights, of AN EVENING WITH PATTI AND MANDY (which was one of the most thrilling night's of theatre I have ever seen).

Will you be cheering on Mandy during next Monday's Emmy telecast? Check back with BWW TV on Friday when we will give you the chance to predict whether or not he will win his second TV trophy.
