SUPERGIRL returns with Season 2 on Monday night, now on a different channel. There are lots of changes ahead this season from the new network to new casting to new plotlines. Will J'onn J'onzz and Alex Danvers find Kara's dad? What position will Kara take on at CatCo? Will Kara and James Olsen finally get together? And who was in that mystery pod at the end of last season's finale? Hopefully, Monday night's episode will reveal the answers to some of these questions.
Most importantly, the show is moving from CBS to The CW and will now air Monday nights at 8 p.m. What does a move to The CW mean? Typically, it means more adult content as The CW is the force behind shows like Gossip Girl, REIGN, and The Vampire Diaries. (Will we get some steamier scenes between Kara and James?) It also puts it on the same network as ARROW and The Flash, which is promising for more crossover episodes.
In fact, they've already announced that there will be a musical crossover episode with "The Flash" this season. With a cast including Jeremy Jordan and Melissa Benoist, I'm surprised it took this long! Can we get Laura Benanti back for that episode? (Side note: I saw Laura Benanti this summer in She Loves Me on Broadway and she's every bit as amazing an actor in person as on film.) That episode is already my favorite one and we don't even know when it will happen yet.
Speaking of the talented cast, there's an important addition this season: Tyler Hoechlin as Superman. Adding Clark Kent into the mixture of characters is sure to add some interesting plotlines. I'm curious if he and Kara will be able to work together, since she's always seemed insecure about how she compares to her cousin. I personally can't wait to see Superman and Jimmy Olsen's friendship!
What are you most excited about for this season of SUPERGIRL? Don't forget to watch it Monday on The CW at 8 p.m. and then check back here for my first recap of the season.
