Rachel Levy, the talented teenager from Montville, New Jersey who recently appeared on TLC's special BROADWAY AT THE WHITE HOUSE, made her solo debut Tuesday evening at Feinstein's/54 Below in New York City. Check out exclusive photos from the concert below!
In last November's holiday broadcast on TLC, Michelle Obama and Stephen Schwartz gave this high school student a standing ovation for her duet of "For Good" with Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth, who had handpicked Rachel out of the audience for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. "To be there with her was insane," Levy told BWW in an exclusive interview following the show's taping. (Check out interview here) "It was just everything I've ever dreamed of and I was just kind of like "is this really happening?" I smiled so much my cheeks hurt."
During Tuesday night's performance, Levy took on songs from the artists and shows that have influenced her the most, including Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, WICKED and LES MISERABLES. In between numbers, she chatted with the crowd about her adoration for Kristin Chenoweth, her schoolgirl crush on artist Jason Mraz and her appreciation for being able to take on the iconic role of Éponine in a recent production of LES MISERABLES.The talented emerging star also teamed with Tyce Green for two numbers, "My New Philosophy", from Broadway's YOU'RE A GOOD MAN CHARLIE BROWN, and a moving rendition of "You Matter to Me." Later in the evening, Levy shared the spotlight with talented artist Jon Rodriguez for an upbeat performance of Jason Mraz's "Lucky."
Perhaps the most emotional moment of the evening came when the 17-year-old dedicated her final song to her late father, who passed away when she was just nine years old.
Tuesday night's show was produced by Van Dean, with musical direction by Michael J. Moritz Jr. Rachel Levy will play a second show at Feinstein's/54 Below on Wednesday, Feb. 10th at 7 pm. For tickets and additional information, please visit: www.54Below.com/Feinsteins or call 212-302-5559.
