Earlier today, popular Glee star and Broadway headliner Darren Criss generously participated in my ongoing InDepth InterView series and offered his candid perspective on many upcoming episodes of the hit musical dramedy series, also briefly commenting on the recent rumors of a re-positioned focus for Glee S5 and S6 or maybe even a full-blown New York City-set spin-off series centering on the characters of Rachel, Kurt and Santana - portrayed by Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Naya Rivera, respectively - coming up in the future and whether or not Criss/Blaine could become a part of that mix, particularly given his character's long-established romantic affiliation with Kurt.
"I have no idea - I have just heard this rumor myself." Criss candidly said,
"But, listen: wherever they go, I will go," he optimistically opined.
"I'm just happy to be a part of the party!" he added of his continued enthusiasm for the hit FOX series, now in its fifth season.
"But, yeah, I don't know where the show will go, but we have a lot of fun episodes coming up right away...," he teased, before offering a tantalizingly preview of what is to come.
Namely: this week's "A Katy Or A Gaga" episode!
"The Katy/Gaga thing is classic, fun, colorful, crazy GLEE," Criss shares of the ep boasting his performance of Gaga's current worldwide hit "Applause" along with members of the New Directions, as well as the first musical number by AMERICAN IDOL's Adam Lambert via Gaga's "Marry The Night".
Furthermore, Criss says the party doesn't stop there, "Then, we have an episode after that which is called 'The End Of Twerk' and that is really silly and kind of fun, too - you know, it wouldn't be Glee if we didn't sort of have our fun with the cultural pulse with twerking!"
Definitely not with this pop culture button-pusher! Gaga, Katy, Miley - oh, my! So, what other musical icons could be next? Well, Criss offers some "Honesty".
"After that, we filmed an episode which I really loved shooting because it features music by one of my favorite artists - I don't know if I'm allowed to talk about it yet, so let's just say: the piano man."
Yes, indeed - the one and only Billy Joel!
And, what about the long-lost unaired Christmas episode that Ryan Murphy recently teased via his Twitter account? Does that even really exists?
"Sort of...," Criss says elusively.
Sort of?! "I'll just say: sort of," Criss relates before confirming, "Yes. There is a Christmas episode that is unaired."
Don't miss the complete InDepth InterView with Darren Criss all about GLEE, his participation in the new HBO documentary SIX BY SONDHEIM, plus all about his own solo music endeavors, upcoming projects and much, much more coming later this week.
