BWW EXCLUSIVE: Alice Ripley Stars In SUGAR! Brand New Details On All-Star Soundtrack

Audiences for the new independent feature film 'SUGAR!' can expect to rock out to an epic soundtrack with emotionally moving ballads, electrifying rock infused songs, and an all new Joan Jett & the Blackhearts cover all sung by Tony Award-winning actress Alice Ripley (Broadway's NEXT TO NORMAL). The soundtrack includes an original theme song by Air Supply's legendary Graham Russell (Perks of Being a Wallflower), titled "Rescue Me" as well as songs by Tammany Hall's Steve O'Reilly (Scrubs). More information on SUGAR! is as follows: "The screenplay for SUGAR! follows the housewife (Ripley) of a Republican candidate for U.S. Senate played by Robert Clohessy (OZ, THE WOLF OF WALL STREET, BLUE BLOODS) who secretly forms an all-women rock band, a decision that redefines what it means to follow your dreams at any age.

In addition to Ripley on lead vocals and keys, the soundtrack features the musical abilities of the actors who are all professional musicians: Sheila Earley (drums), Kathryn Danielle (guitar, vocals), and pioneer of women in rock'n'roll June Millington (bass). Playing since 1964, Millington is a founding member of the band Fanny, the first all-female rock band in the world to sign and record entire albums. In preparation for shooting this August, recording the music was of utmost importance to the core creative team including director Shari Berman, writer Leora Kalish. The film is a co-production by Lauren Rayner Productions and Silver Phoenix Entertainment.

Filmed on location in New York and New Jersey, 'SUGAR!' is currently raising finishing funds on Kickstarter (Staff Pick) to help with mounting post-production costs.
