Funny thing about LA: celebrities live here and we are surrounded by them. They are just like you and me, normal people doing what they love to do, but they are thrusted into the public eye and we recognize them, ask for photos and autographs and then we feel content that we met that person and got a memento.

Don't know where I was going with that. It just seemed like a thing to write about. Last time the tour of Mary Poppins was here, Tom Cruise and his then wife Katie Holmes came to the show and took photos with the cast. Even though he is the biggest celebrity in the world, he took time to come backstage and meet us and take photos. That's so sweet of him. I mean, he's the celebrity and took time out of his day to be nice and meet people who entertained him for three hours.

We've had Tobey McGuire, Nicole Richie, Halle Berry and I'm sure many more celebs that we didn't know about. Jeff Goldblum of course came. Today Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs came to the show with their 3 year old and I would've loved to have met them, but I'm sure that with their 3 year old in tow, they just wanted to get home after sitting down for three hours. Which is too bad, because so many of our cast members grew up idolizing and being influenced and inspired by these two musical theatre/tv actors.

One celebrity that did come to take a photo with the show was Drew Carey! Hilarious TV personality and host of Price is Right was nice and came backstage and took a photo with the cast. These experiences not only make people smile but we will all post that photo on Facebook/Twitter and spread the news and make our friends jealous. Which brings me back to saying that small things can make a difference.

I received an email from a married couple that saw the show. They were sitting in the fourth row of the show on Thursday, and without going into too much details, they have had a tragedy in their lives recently that is quite sad. They wrote to tell me that for three hours they were able to escape their reality and the husband saw his wife smile again for the first time in weeks. Now we aren't curing cancer or healing people's bodies with what we do, but we do soothe the soul in short bursts and make them smile and think about other things. It doesn't make the problems go away, but it does allow for the body to reboot and bring back some strength to deal with whatever life is throwing at you.

2 shows today. A fun Saturday Intermission Picture, more friends at the show, fun evening of jumping over a fence to see the lights of downtown LA at a lookout and now I'm finishing this blog with heavy eyes and a heavy heart as tomorrow is my final show in LA and with the tour of Poppins. And guess what? Yes I'm seeing more friends tomorrow!

Happy Saturday night from the city of angels.

Cheers,
Nicolas
