Well folks it's that time again! Audition week is upon us! That time when we sit at our desks for hours steaming our throats, with a throat coat IV sending that slippery elm goodness coursing through our veins with a cup of pure honey with a straw patiently waiting for us to take a break from inhaling water vapor. That time when every time you get any sort of notification you throw your phone across the room because you think it's the cast list, but it's really just another email from Disney store about their 14th "magical offer" this week. That time when every waking moment is spent thinking of how nervous you are and how you are going to utilize your "secret weapon."
So in the spirit of audition week, we asked members of our program how nervous they were and what their secret weapon was. The results to follow:
So my (Yanniv's) secret weapon is that I eat a host of ridiculous things. I eat:
Apples
Pineapple
Marshmallows
Apple Juice
Pineapple Juice
Raw honey
Like 90 Gallons of Water
And my (Rebecca's) secret weapon is to go into the audition like you already have the part and are performing in front of a full, super responsive, laughs-at-all-the-jokes crowd. I struggle with self-confidence, especially in auditions and shut myself down by thinking about my shortcomings and how other people deserve the role so much more than me. This trick can help push away those thoughts because it helps you focus on giving the best performance possible and doing what really matters: showing the director what you can do!
Here's a video with a few other featured cast members so you can get acquainted with us!
