Today, we start rehearsals for our next concert of Transcendence Theatre Company's, Broadway Under the Stars season. I'm so excited to see all of the performers that arrived last night from NYC and LA!!! I have some close friends coming out to perform in this concert and and am of course excited for the new friends I'll be meeting! This concert will be our "Fantastical Family Night." It will also include the kids from our Broadway Kids camp....which I am SO EXCITED ABOUT! Needless to say, a lot has been going on here since our closing night of our first concert, "One Singular Sensation."
On Wednesday we had our second Skits Under the Stars event which was a mega success. Skits Under the Stars is an open mic evening that TTC hosts for the community here in the Sonoma area. Our first Skits night was at KAZ winery and was a blast! This past week's was held at Deerfield Ranch Winery. There were so many incredible community member performances! A few that almost brought me to tears included; a group of 4 adorable kids singing, "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" with one of the kids accompanying on his ukulele..... one of my favorite community members, Catherine Moylan, dedicated and sang "Hello Young Lovers" to Stephan and I.... two young girls sang "Love is an Open Door," from Frozen.....our artistic director, Amy Miller performed her incredible trick of juggling and eating apples at the same time....I could go on and on about how heartwarming each performance was!!! Being that it was Country Western themed night, Eric Jackson, Rachel Thomas and myself hosted the entire evening with southern accents, bandanas and cowbells...and I got to sing Dolly Parton's, Backwoods Barbie. Fun fact: Dolly Parton has always been an inspiration to me! Ah yes, it was yet another magical night under the stars!
We also kicked off our first artist series with, "Brace Yourself" written and performed by Lexy Fridell! She was outstanding and hilarious as usual. The show was performed in a charming space at the beautiful Chateau St. Jean winery which provided a truly stunning atmosphere for the event! I hope everyone gets a chance to see Lexy's awesome one woman show at some point because it is brilliant!
Our TTC resident team spent the week preparing for our next concert and doing press/promo events. Stephan, Pearl (my dog child) and I drove to San Francisco for a radio interview, I attended my first Rotary Club meeting with Stephan where we sang at 7 am in the morning, we also performed at an enormous, outdoor jazz concert where I sang Popular to a White bearded man in the audience who's wife later thanked me for making him look pretty. That was fun! We also performed at a few other bay area events and have a lot more coming up this week...on top of starting rehearsals. I've discovered that I sleep so well here because the days are SO full...there's not a single second to be wasted. As company member Brooke Tansley puts it, "You've gotta pack in the fun!" It's true-- life is too short not to make the most of each and every day!
With that being said, I have to go shower and head to the meet and greet for our upcoming concert. I am SO looking forward to Fantastical Family Night for many reasons...that I cannot yet share with you because they are top secret surprises....shhh... stay tuned for more! ;)
