I'm back with part two of my trip to New York!
My fourth day started off with my mother and I visiting the pier. We got to see a ship that was used in World War II and the Vietnam War. Then, we ate breakfast at the Galaxy Diner before we went to Central Park.
We walked around Central Park for thirty minutes before I took another class at Broadway Dance Center. This class was musical theatre taught by Lane Napper. We learned a dance combination to the song "Footloose." I enjoyed this class because it was similar to what a dance audition was like and helped me prepare better for future auditions.
Then, it was time to get ready to see yet another Broadway show! The show we were seeing that night was An American in Paris. My mom and I were so excited because we expected the dancing to be fabulous, and we were not let down. The costumes were extravagant, and I enjoyed listening to the old fashioned songs.
After the show, we met Harvey Evans, an original Jet in West Side Story on Broadway and in the movie adaptation, and a few of my mother's friends. We went to a nearby restaurant and had the opportunity to talk to the legend that is Harvey Evans. I even had the chance to interview him, which will be coming out soon!
Finally, we come to my fifth and final day in New York City. Our morning began with breakfast once again at the Galaxy Diner. Next, we went to see my mom's friend in an off-Broadway musical called Liberty.
Liberty is about how the Statue of Liberty came to be in the United States. It is a terrific musical that teaches an important lesson about what makes Americans American. It also includes fantastic singing from the ensemble and perfect comedic timing.
Once the show was over, I interviewed my mother's friend, Tina Stafford, who played two roles in Liberty. It was so nice getting to talk to a working actress in New York City. That interview will also be coming out soon!
Our last event in New York City was seeing the New York Spectacular featuring the Radio City Rockettes! I was so ecstatic to be able to visit Radio City Music Hall, the enormous theatre where the Tony Awards have been held. Seeing the New York Spectacular was the perfect way to end our weekend in New York, and it was great to be able to see The Rockettes perform live.
I had a glorious week in New York. I can't wait to visit the Big Apple again! There are so many things to see and do in New York, you could not pack it into a month if you tried!
