We just finished our first full week of previews!!! After our shows here at On The Town, there is always a crowd of fans by our stage door anxious to get their programs signed by the cast and eager to share with us their favorite aspects of the show. For most, the top of their list is the dancing.

Without a doubt, Josh Bergasse is among one of the most incredible choreographers I've ever had the pleasure to work with. I first worked with Josh throughout season 2 of NBC's SMASH. I was immediately drawn to his generosity in the studio during the creative process. In fact, as glamorous as shooting production scenes seemed, my favorite part of my entire time on SMASH was creating the work in the studio with Josh. What I feel separates Josh from other choreographers I've worked with is his ability to be completely detached from any preconceived choreographic ideas and his willingness to open up the creative process to the dancer/actor. In turn, as a dancer in the creative process, one feels a sense of pride and ownership of the material being worked on while still fulfilling Josh's vision.

There are quite a few reasons why the choreography in this production of On The Town is being heralded by many as the pinnacle of dance in musical theater today. Perhaps most importantly, Josh stays focused on clear story telling in the musical's many ballet sequences. There's not a moment in the show when I'm dancing and questioning why I've been given that particular series of dance steps. Effective use of dance is critical to the success of the entire show. The dancing serves as a vehicle to move the scenes forward. In life, I abide by this mantra: "I'm dedicated to enriching the world through dance." I'm honored to be part of this incredible ensemble that does just that.

Lori Ann Ferreri brought up a great point in rehearsal prior to tonight's show. Not only do we have a stellar line-up of leads in our show, we have the BEST group of true triple threat performers that make up our ensemble - an ensemble that is integral to the heartbeat of our show.
