ABC Family cult hit, the ballet-themed teen-centric series BUNHEADS, starring Broadway favorite and two-time Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster, has yet to be officially renewed by its network following a bumpy first season, but a huge boon has now been offered to the on-the-bubble series: a major California state tax credit.
The second season of BUNHEADS, should ABC Family proceed to produce it, would be entitled to a 25% tax credit as a result of it filming in the state of California and winning this year's tax credit lottery - joining a mere handlful of other especially lucky film and TV projects.
Other recipients of the tax break recently announced include the forthcoming ENTOURAGE feature film, a TV adaptation of the Armistead Maupin TALES OF THE CITY series novel BABYCAKES and ABC Family's own series Pretty Little Liars (Season Five), among others.

BUNHEADS was created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and stars Foster along with original A CHORUS LINE Tony Award-winner Kelly Bishop and depicts the goings-on in and around a ballet school in a coastal California town, involving the stories of both the students and the instructors themselves.
So, will this wonderful news provide the final puzzle piece to come into place to instigate ABC Family in renewing BUNHEADS? Time will tell!
