Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS and Jerry Mitchell have announced BROADWAY BARES: CLASSIC, the latest edition of their popular "Solo Strips" series to be held Sunday, June 6 (9 & 11 PM) at Splash (50 West 17th Street). BROADWAY BARES: CLASSIC will feature strips inspired by favorite numbers from BROADWAY BARES' 20-year history. Headlining the evening will be BARES creator and executive producer Jerry Mitchell, who will take the stage of Splash, where he first created the event in 1992. Other favorite performers set to strut, strip and show that they "still got it" include: Jennifer Cody (Shrek The Musical), Steve Geary (Contact), Sebastian LaCause (The Rocky Horror Show), Rachelle Rak (Fosse) and more.
This week, BroadwayWorld.com will be catching up with catching up with some of the dancers baring it all for BC/EFA with a series of profiles that will hopefully give you a glimpse of the person behind the g-string. First to "step up to the pole" to be profiled is Broadway Bares favorite and recent Annie Award winner Jennifer Cody.

First Appearance in Bares 1994?
At Splash...Knock Knock
What is your most scandalous and/or favorite Broadway Bares memory?
When the boys doing the shaving cream number realized they should have rehearsed with lights...the cream melted long before the number was over....classic Broadway Bares moment.
Which Strip will you be performing at Splash on June 6?
We are doing Lick It again...Ithink this may be the 4th or 5th time the whipped cream girl has been in Bares. Not sure what the music is, but we "build" an ice cream sundae on a man's....genitals....
How is performing at Broadway Bares different than performing in a legit theatre piece?
Well, you never know what is going to happen..its almost closer to improv in a way. It's very freeing and you feel like you're a rockstar....oh, and we're naked....
What's it like to perform for the Broadway Bares audience?
They are amazing...Every time they recognize a character or the theme, they go nuts...You feel like Cher...
What notes would you give to a Broadway performer stripping for the first time?
Just to realize that this started with a small group of people and while it has grown, it is very special. There are people who were involved who are no longer with us...I would just say in the fun, and the make-up and the costumes, we remember why we are there..
What Broadway showtune best describes you? -
I Can't Say No (to Jerry Mitchell)
What makes something classic?
I think it's something that is surprising when it's done and leaves an impression on the community, as a whole. Everyone remembers different aspects of what they saw and it creates a want to see it again.
