The Bride of Frankenstein ~ an experiment in intimacy is a performance piece inspired by James Whale's film and Mary Shelley's tale featuring a woman sewn together from bits and pieces of other humans, designed to please an obsessed scientist. Though schooled in etiquette and the arts, Mary remains a monster who struggles to find a niche for her extraordinary, mutated sense of self.
Featuring MaryBeth Schroeder, Martin Everall, Savannah Graner, Paul Fraccalvieri, Ebony Topaz Pullum, Andrew Guay, Kevin Pruitt, Jessie Winograd, David Holland, Saki Masuda Aoyama. Playwright Sharon Fogarty received her bachelor's in dance from SUNY Brockport and a masters in music from Teachers College. Her company Making Light was created in 1986 (aka Sharon Fogarty Dance Theatre) to 'to heal the planet one play at a time' (50+ productions). In 2005, Sharon received a 'People of the Year' award from NYTheatre.com and was entered into Manhattan Theatre Source Hall of Fame for contributions in performance and production of live theatre. In 2008, Sharon won Village Voice's 'Best of NY' for Pink Steel, a performance piece she directed. Also in 2008, a production she helped create and direct titled How to Be a Groom won 'Best Comedy' at the Edinburgh festival. Recently, her play The Devil of Delancey Street was awarded 'Best Play' by the Thespis Theater Festival (2014), an award which funded the production of this play, Bride of Frankenstein ~ an experiment in intimacy. Sharon's dance concerts include Bach Remedies ~ Hysterical Essays on Depression, Feminine Monsters Throughout History, Dances for a Small Planet and True Love Stories. Musical plays/performance pieces include 'heaven', The Overdevelopment of Scott, Where Sleeping Gods Lie, Flying Dreams, Speaking to the Dead, The Devil of Delancey Street and Portrait of the Artist as a Dumb Blonde. Sharon is currently an actress with Chicago City Limits Touring Co. and has performed in over a hundred plays.
