The BBC Travel Alert has tweeted that London's West End was plunged into darkness this evening, November 25th following a power outage. According to the UK's Evening Standard, the power failure began at approximately 5:20pm. Among the areas affected are Piccadilly Circus, Soho, Chinatown, Old Compton Street, Wardour Street and Shaftesbury Avenue.
UK Power Networks also turned to Twitter to alert the public that their engineers are currently working on the problem and hope to restore power within two hours.
Theater-goers with tickets to tonight's performances at West End and Soho theaters are being advised to contact their individual theaters for further information.

Due to the black out on Shaftesbury Avenue, the Gielgud Theatre currently has no power, more details to follow.
