On August 21, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will host Chicago's first show in Brooklyn at the final show of the 35thanniversary season of the Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island.
"Once again, New York City's two largest free outdoor music series will be bringing sweet summer sounds to Brooklyn for music lovers to enjoy absolutely free," said BP Markowitz. "With all-time great bands like Chicago on the big stage of Brooklyn, USA-Coney Island has been the place to be this summer!"
For more than three decades, the Seaside Summer Concert Series has attracted top name classic rock, pop, oldies, contemporary and Latin performers to Coney Island. This summer, the shows will again be held at West 21st Street and Surf Avenue, next to the home of the Brooklyn Cyclones. A limited number of $5 rental chairs in a specially designated area are available on a first come, first served basis. All shows begin at 7:30 PM.
On Monday, Markowitz wrapped up the 31st season of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series at Wingate Field, which brought a star-studded lineup of classic soul, R&B, contemporary, Caribbean and gospel artists. As with the Seaside Summer Concert Series, all shows were free to the public.
For more than twenty years, while he was a state senator, Markowitz worked along with the Seaside Summer Concert Series and the Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series to bring some of the best live entertainment to Brooklyn. Now as Brooklyn Borough President, he continues to host the concerts that have entertained hundreds of thousands of residents over the years.
