BIRDMAN, ANNIE, INTO THE WOODS Among 2015 GALECA AWARD Nominees

Each year, GALECA honors its picks for the year's finest in film and television, from mainstream to gaystream, with its annual Dorian Awards. Presented each February, the Dorians are named with a nod to the great and gay wit Oscar Wilde.

This year's nominations were announced on Monday, January 12th by GALECA, The Gay and Lesbian Entertainment Critics Association, a nonprofit comprised of critics and entertainment journalists who write on television and film for noteworthy media outlets accessible in the U.S.

Winners of this year's awards will be revealed with a Winners Toast to be held in Los Angeles on March 1. George Takei will be this year's recipient of the Timeless Award, recognizing an actor or performer whose exemplary career is marked by character, wisdom and wit.

Formed in 2009, GALECA and its annual Dorian Awards toast the finest in movies, TV shows and performances of all kinds, from mainstream to LGBTQ-centric.

Most members identify as somehow queer, be it lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender, though GALECA has straight "ally" journalists in its ranks as well (these members tend to work for LGBTQ-targeted outlets).
