BID 2 BEAT AIDS Begins 12/1 with Theatre & Movie Collectibles

Bidding begins at noon tomorrow, December 1 on eBay for BID 2 BEAT AIDS, an annual auction of rare and autographed items from stars in music, film, Broadway, sports, politics, and television. It's the world's biggest celebrity tag sale, offering everything from Borat's hat to a CD signed by High School Musical's Vanessa Hudgens to a Spiderman doll signed by Tobey Maguire. Proceeds benefit LIFEbeat, the Music Industry Fights AIDS to support its ongoing AIDS/HIV programs nationwide. Sponsors of this 10-day eBay auction include MTV, Borders and Sirius Satellite Radio.

LIFEbeat has amassed nearly 1000 items for BID 2 BEAT AIDS, making it the largest charity auction of its kind in eBay history. Items include: CDs autographed by Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Amy Winehouse, and Taylor Hicks; signed books by Madonna, James Earl Jones, Jason Alexander, Ethan Hawke, Rosie O'Donnell, Martha Stewart, and Bill Clinton; posters signed by Britney Spears, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Elijah Wood, Kirsten Dunst, and Beyonce; record presentation plaques and instruments from Aerosmith, Metallica, Prince and 50 Cent; as well as DVDs, photos, magazines and other autographed memorabilia.

Theater fans will want to be sure to bid on signed cast recording CDs from Wicked, Legally Blonde, Spring Awakening, and Avenue Q; Playbills signed by Angela Lansbury, Marsha Mason, Josh Strickland, Michael Cerveris, Ashley Brown, Christine Ebersole and Marian Seldes, among  many others; signed theater posters from Gypsy with Patti LuPone, Grey Gardens, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and more; an original cast recording LP of Oklahoma signed by Florence Henderson and Phyllis Newman; a signed script from "Weeds" signed by  Broadway favorite Mary Louise Parker; Hairspray items signed by John Waters;  a Life Cafe menu signed by the cast of Rent; signed photos from a bevy of showbiz veterans including Joan Collins, Shirley Jones, Celeste Holm, Carol Channing, Julie Harris and Julie Newmarr and a set piece from the film Dreamgirls.

The centerpiece of the auction is a one-of-a-kind celebrity autographed "Lend-A-Hand to LIFEbeat" card series. Stars traced their hands on special paper, adding an artistic touch and signature. Cynthia Nixon (illustrating her hand as a bunny), David Hyde Pierce (with illustrated "jazz hands"), Fantasia (who dipped her hand in purple paint backstage at Broadway's The Color Purple), Orfeh, Sutton Foster (with an impressively drawn Frankenstein finger puppet), Kevin Chamberlain, Project Runway's Tim Gunn, John O'Hurley, Megan Mullally, The B-52's, Joanne Worley, Charles Busch (with elegantly drawn nails), Ugly Betty's Christopher Gorham, Deborah Gibson, Jerry Mathers, Sinead O'Connor (donating the most controversial tracing) and over 100 others have participated in this unique project.

Unique items include: an iPod designed by Yoko Ono; signed scripts from Grey's Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother and One Tree Hill; a  box of cereal for Blades of Glory signed by Will Ferrell and Jon Heder; signed costumes from Sacha Baron Cohen, Ricky Martin and Hilary Duff; MTV talent credentials worn and signed by Cameron Diaz, Victoria Beckham, Robin Williams and others; an autographed horse mask from Korn; a Heroes lunchbox signed by Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell; a life sized cutout of Stephen Colbert signed by him and his entire writing staff on the first day of the strike; and one-of-a-kind items from the MTV Movie Awards autographed by Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans and more.
