INCOGNITO featuring MAYSA

Showtime @ 8:00PM / Doors Open @ 6:00PM

Tickets $29.50 in advance, $35.00 day of show

Standing Room Only/ Limited table seating available/ First come, first seated

About the show: "The enduring success of Incognito is one of the great stories of U.K. music during the last 30 years. Look at the recent history of soulful U.K. artists and you will find any number of short-lived acts that have achieved pop success. Narrow the list to those that have created a uniquely British sound and that have endured as a global phenomenon on their own terms, and the list becomes short. Immense credit goes then to Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick and Incognito, formed in 1979 and currently celebrating over 30 years of positive vibes and undiluted jazz funk."

THE VENTURES

Please Note: This show has been moved from February 27th. Tickets purchased for that show will be honored tonight.

Event Details: http://www.bbkingblues.com/bio.php?id=1174

Showtime @ 8:00PM / Doors Open @ 6:00PM

Tickets $30.00 in advance, $35.00 day of show

General Admission Seating / First come, first seated

About the show: "Not the first but definitely the most popular rock instrumental combo, The Ventures scored several hit singles during the 1960s - most notably "Walk, Don't Run" and "Hawaii Five-O." However, the band made its name in the growing album market, covering hits of the day and organizing thematically linked LPs. Almost 40 Ventures albums charted, and 17 hit the Top 40. The Ventures soon became one of the most popular worldwide groups, with dozens of albums recorded especially for the Japanese and European markets. They toured continually throughout the '70s and '80s, influencing Japanese pop music of the time more than they had American music during the '60s.

"Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, The Ventures remain incredibly active, recording and touring to the delight of fans around the world. Over 50 years into their storied career, the band is considered by many to be the greatest surf band ever, boasting hits like "Perfidia," "Telstar," "Secret Agent Man," "A Summer Place," "Blue Moon," and "Ram-Bunk Shush." However, while it is true that The Ventures' style (marked by the Fender solid body guitars played by Bog Bogle and Don Wilson) was a critical influence in defining that musical genre, they are much more than that. Surf is just a subset of what The Ventures are: the best-selling instrumental rock band in music history."

$53.50 per ticket - Must buy entire booth

A booth for 4 = $214, A booth for 6 = $321

General Admission Seating / First come, first seated

About the show: "In the early '90s, Van Morrison was standing at a London newsstand when a fan approached and began regaling him about this great unknown R&B singer he'd heard. The singer's name was James Hunter. Morrison went to hear Hunter at a gig in Wales and subsequently hired him as a backup singer for several years of touring and recording. Hunter appeared on Morrison's live album A Night in San Francisco (1994) and on the studio set Days Like This (1995). Hunter's first solo album, Believe What I Say (1996), also featured a guest spot by Morrison. Things were looking up for this Colchester native.

"With the release of Hunter's second and latest U.S. studio album The Hard Way (2008), Hunter took another giant step toward staking his place in the pop-soul pantheon alongside Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Charlie Rich, and Van Morrison."

Ozric Tentacles

Event Details: http://www.bbkingblues.com/bio.php?id=1205

Showtime @ 8:00PM / Doors Open @ 6:00PM

Tickets $15.00 in advance, $19.00 day of show

General Admission Seating / First come, first seated

About the show: "Ozric Tentacles are, simply put, legends of the U.K. underground. One of the most influential bands to emerge from the U.K.'s festival scene, the band (also known simply as the Ozrics) layers ambient and ethereal soundscapes with freeform dub trips, incredible rave grooves, and psychedelic progressive rock in an open exploration of music and the soul. In their over 25-year career, the Ozrics have experienced the vicissitudes of the rock 'n' roll life. The band has flourished through a number of lineup changes, spawned several side projects (including Eat Static and Nodens Ictus), created their own record label (Dovetail & Stretchy), put out over 25 albums, scored a hit record, and sold over a million albums worldwide. And yet, the basic motivation behind the band's existence has never wavered."

Friday, April 6, 2012

Jerry Lee Lewis

Event Details: http://www.bbkingblues.com/bio.php?id=1211

Showtime @ 8:00PM / Doors Open @ 6:00PM

Tickets $125.00 in advance, $130.00 day of show

General Admission Seating / First come, first seated

About the show: "It has been over half a century since true American original Jerry Lee Lewis first rocketed to the top of America's pop, country, and R&B charts with "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire." While those iconic performances still define the essence of rock 'n' roll for millions, "The Killer" himself continues to thrill audiences around the world with his unique, scorching blend of rock, blues, country, and gospel.

"Lewis continues his legacy with his latest release Mean Old Man (2010). The disc, the much-anticipated follow-up to his 2006 album Last Man Standing, finds the legendary musician combining his country roots with the compelling force of his signature rock, blues, and gospel style in a dream set list of classic songs, many of which might not exist had Lewis not kicked open the floodgates back in the '50s. Simply put, the disc is an important and monumental music from the man Rolling Stone listed among the Greatest Artists of All Time - Jerry Lee Lewis, perhaps the last American original."

Friday, April 6, 2012 (In Lucille’s)

Steely Dan Guitarist

Jon Herington BAND

with special guest Steely Dan Drummer

KEITH CARLOCK

Event Details: http://www.bbkingblues.com/bio.php?id=1414

Showtime @ 8:00PM / Doors Open @ 6:30PM

Tickets $20.00 in advance, $20.00 day of show

Standing Room Only tickets available for $12.00

General Admission Seating / First come, first seated /This show will take place in Lucille's Bar & Grill, located inside B.B. King Blues Club

About the show: "Jon Herington is the veteran touring and recording guitarist for Steely Dan, a position he continues to hold after 11 years. You can find his guitar work with Steely Dan on Two Against Nature (2000) and Everything Must Go (2003), as well as on the Steely Dan VH1 Storytellers program and the Making of Aja DVD from the brilliant Classic Albums series.

"The Jon Herington Band is currently the hard-hitting, stripped-down guitar, bass, and drums power trio version of Herington's larger band. The trio is specifically designed for the club and theater concert scene, with a blues, rock, and pop vibe and an emphasis on songs and guitar playing. There is plenty of killer guitar for fans of Herington's playing, and the lyrics are often funny in addition to being clever and compelling. Great support is supplied by a no-nonsense, take-care-of-business band featuring Dennis Espantman on bass and Keith Carlock on drums. All three band members sing, providing a much bigger sound than a typical trio. After years of playing the supporting (though highlighted) role in Steely Dan, Herington has stepped out on his own in a major way as a singer-songwriter not to be missed."

About the show: "Folk singer-songwriter Melanie recorded her first album in 1967 and attracted national attention as well as a loyal fan following two years later when she performed at Woodstock, the legendary rock festival. During the early '70s, Melanie's gentle, acoustic sound on songs like "Lay Down," "Beautiful People," and "Brand New Key" (which topped the charts in 1971) stood in sharp contrast to the hard-driving, heavy-metal rock that dominated the charts.

"Melanie was booked as the first solo pop/rock artist ever to appear from the Royal Albert Hall to Carnegie Hall and at the Metropolitan Opera House. She later opened the New Metropolitan Opera House in New York, the Sydney Opera House, and in the General Assembly of the United Nations, where she was invited to perform on many occasions as delegates greeted her performances with standing ovations. In addition, the top television hosts of all time - Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson, and Dick Cavett - have battled to book her."

The duo's music is perhaps best described as original international acoustic improvisational guitar music, world guitar, or ethnojazz. Their style is saturated with their cultural roots, which include Afro-Caribbean, Latin American folk, flamenco, and Middle Eastern music, and it draws heavily from the jazz concept of improvisation."

He moved to Berkeley, California, and began performing at local clubs. Then, in 1976, after changing his surname from Mahoney to Money, his fate changed forever when he was introduced to legendary promoter Bill Graham. The two quickly became close, with Graham serving as both a mentor and manager to Money. Said Graham of Money: "Eddie Money has it all ... not only can he sing, write, and play, but he is a natural performer." With a long and incredible career of platinum sales and Top 40 hits, Money's music continues to transcend generational gaps and shape the music of today."

About the show: "For over 40 years, Tower of Power has been creating its own brand of soul music. Since 1968, the band has delivered infectious jams to fans, appearing before sold-out crowds in an annual world tour. TOP's odyssey began in California in 1968 when Emilio Castillo met Stephen "Doc" Kupka. When Doc auditioned during a band rehearsal at Castillio's house, Castillio's father called him into the kitchen and offered the following advice: "Hire that guy, he's got something." Doc and his signature baritone sax sound were now in the band, and on August 13, 1968, Tower of Power, as the world knows it today, began playing gigs and soon became very well known in the Oakland area.

"Tower of Power celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2008 at a very special reunion show at the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco, recorded and released as a commemorative live DVD. The performance featured four original band members: Emilio Castillo, Rocco Prestia, Stephen Kupka, and David Garibaldi. To this day, TOP tours the United States, Japan, and Europe every year, playing to sold-out crowds. The band has never been busier or more in demand. New generations continue to come see the band perform as its timeless music never fails to excite fans of all ages."

This show will take place in Lucille's Bar & Grill, located inside B.B. King Blues Club

About the show: "Grammy Award-winning harmonica virtuoso Sugar Blue is not your typical bluesman. Born James Whiting, he was raised in Harlem, New York, where his mother was a singer and dancer at the fabled Apollo Theater. He spent his childhood among the musicians and show people who knew his mother, including the great Billie Holiday, and decided that he wanted to be a performer. Blue received his first harmonica from his aunt and proceeded to hone his chops by wailing along with Bob Dylan and Stevie Wonder songs on the radio. He was soon influenced by the jazz greats such as Dexter Gordon and Lester Young. Blue has used this background to his advantage, creating an ultra-modern blues style and sound that is instantly recognizable as his own."

About the show: "Cactus is the American Led Zeppelin. Those are tall words, but that is in fact what people were saying about Cactus when this first super group hit the scene in 1970. A veritable powerhouse, the group included bassist and vocalist Tim Bogert, drummer Carmine Appice, guitarist Jim McCarty, and singer Rusty Day. Despite the band's brief time together, however, rockers such as Van Halen, Monster Magnet, Kings X, Billy Sheehan, David Coverdale, Kid Rock, and Ted Nugent have been documented in interviews as fans of the loud and proud '70s sensation.

"Today, Cactus is back! The band performed its first show since the '70s at B.B. King Blues Club in June 2006, and the party continues tonight as the new incarnation of the group leaps from the woofers and knocks you out of your chair. Featuring original members Appice and McCarty, the group has released a new album, Cactus V (2006), on Escapi music. All told, those of us who were too young to have seen Cactus in the '70s are in for a treat!"

K’JON

Showtimes @ 8:00PM / Doors Open @ 6:00PM

Tickets $20.00 in Adv., $25.00 DOS

General Admission Seating / First come, first seated

About the show: "The turning point came for K'Jon while writing music in a Los Angeles hotel room. After a decade of working hard, K'Jon's ship finally came in with the release of his full-length major label debut I Get Around in 2009. The disc is a superb collection that features nods to both his contemporaries, including Kem and Robin Thicke, and his predecessors, like fellow Detroit native Marvin Gaye.

"While K'Jon's music is well suited to Detroit's ballroom culture, the appeal is much wider. Whether you're holding up the wall in a Brooklyn club, roller-blading in Santa Monica, or two-stepping in Chicago, K'Jons music fits. It speaks across generations too. "A woman left a comment on a website," he muses. "She said she was 58 and she loved my music. And then of course, I perform in the clubs and there are teenagers and young adults singing along. In this industry, they want you to pick a demographic. But sometimes, your audience chooses you. And that's a great feeling." Look for that great feeling to continue when K'Jon releases his next album, Moving On, in April."

About the show: "Felix Cavaliere is perhaps best known for his association with the Young Rascals in the '60s. Early in 1965, he formed the band with the additions of Dino Danelli, Eddie Brigati, and Gene Cornish. The group quickly attracted the attention of Sid Bernstein and was signed with Atlantic Records. From 1965 through 1969, The Rascals were one of the biggest groups in the country, releasing hits including the Cavaliere-sung "Good Lovin'," "Groovin'," "A Girl Like You," "A Beautiful Morning," and the chart-topping "People Got to Be Free," as they evolved from blue-eyed soul (a term coined to describe them) to pop psychedelia and jazz fusion. By the early '70s, the group had mutated into an impressionistic jazz-rock outfit. Although it continued to record, the band ultimately disbanded in 1972 after the release of its final album, Island of Real (1972). Tonight he takes the stage at B.B. King Blues Club with his Rascals, performing all the blue-eyed soul hits audiences know and love."

"Founding members Tom Finn and George Cameron have reformed The Left Banke for the band's first live performances since 1970. In order to recreate the unique sound of their past recordings, Finn and Cameron have assembled some of New York City's finest musicians, including long-time Left Banke collaborator Charly Cazalet on bass, Mike Fornatale on lead vocals and guitar, Paul Alves on guitar, Mickey Finn on keyboards, and the Grip Weeds' Rick Reil on drums, along with a small string section. WISHBONE ASH

Showtime @ 8:00PM

Doors Open @ 6:00PM

Tickets $25.00 in advance, $30.00 day of show

General Admission Seating

About the show: "The classic rock bands of the late '60s and early '70s enjoy a unique place in popular music history. The Beatles had gone their separate ways, Britain had already gone through the blues boom, and psychedelia had made its impact. The possibilities were infinite. Wishbone Ash, one of the new breed of progressive rockers, was quick to seize the opportunity, and in 1969, the band was among those to take full advantage of this environment, producing its unique brand of melodic rock. 40 years later, having pioneered the use of twin lead guitars, the band has gained worldwide recognition, based firmly on a regime of relentless touring. A quintessential road band, Wishbone Ash is also an acknowledged influence on many other legendary rock outfits, including Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Wishbone Ash recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a live DVD recording of its performance at London's Shepherds Bush Empire Theatre."
