BAX welcomes a New Group of dancers and choreographers into New York City's dance community with this two-day showcase curated by renowned choreographer Shannon Hummel, founder/director of Cora Dance and Marya Warshaw Founding and Executive Director of BAX/Brooklyn Arts Exchange.

We usher in freshly arrived talent through our red doors with an intriguing festival of performances and roundtable discussions. Artists have no more than three years of experience showing choreography in the city. They benefit from professional experiences to develop artistic growth and to integrate them into the community.

Past UPSTART Artists include: Heidi Carlsen, Courtney Cooke, Lindsey Drury, devynn emory/beast productions, Moriah Evans & Sarah Beth Percival, (Jo) Sau Yin Leung, Malcolm Jason Low, Katherine Partington, Simone Sobers in collaboration with Val-Inc., Donna Costello, Kamaria Dailey, Katie Dean, SINecdoche Dance / Belinda He, Creature Theater / CJ Holm, Ani Javian, Jacob Slominsky, Rebecca Stronger / STRONGERCircus, and Sarah Zitnay.
