IFC Films presents Valhalla Rising, opening July 16, 2010 and starring Mads Mikkelsen (upcoming "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky"), Maarten Stevenson, Gary Lewis and Ewan Stewart Ain. Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn ("Bronson"), Valhalla Rising is the Official Selection of the 2009 Venice Film Festival and Official Selection of the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival.

Scotland, 1000 AD. A world torn between the brutality of the past and the civility of the future. A mute Scandinavian savage known only as "One Eye"( Mads Mikkelsen, "Casino Royale," "Coco and Igor") is kept as a animal and only bought out of his cage by his owner to fight for money. Aided by Are, a boy slave, One Eye slays his captor and together he and Are begin the long journey home. En route, One Eye and Are team up with a band of Viking Christian warriors, who have set their sets on conquering Jerusalem. Their ship, however, is soon engulfed by a seemingly endless fog. When it finally clears, they find themselves lost and in an unknown land. As the new world reveals its secrets and The Vikings confront their terrible and bloody fate, One Eye finds himself on a journey of a much darker nature.

Following the breakout successes of The Pusher Trilogy and "Bronson," director Nicolas Winding Refn continues his examination of the dark nature of man. With it's stunning visuals and unflinching tone, "Valhalla Rising" cements his status as one of the most distinctive voices in world cinema today..
