Brooklyn Academy Of Music (BAM) - the home for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas - will launch a 16-month-long celebration of its 150th anniversary on September 18, 2011, sponsored by Chase.
During this anniversary period, the nation's oldest performing arts center and world renowned cultural institution acknowledges its rich past and lays the foundation for significant future development. Since its first performance in 1861, the Brooklyn Academy Of Music (BAM) has grown into a thriving urban arts center for performing arts, film, and educational programming-now attracting more than 600,000 visitors every year.
From its original building on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights, to its current (and expanding) Fort Greene campus, BAM has made an indelible mark on the cultural lives of New Yorkers for many generations.
