Folks will be linin' up just to get down as The B-52s shimmies the St. George Theatre on May 7th.
From Rock Lobster to Love Shack, no one says "it's okay to be different" better than The B-52s. With their bouffant wigs and campy, thrift store style, The B-52s were not exactly destined to be pop superstars, but after 25 years and twenty million albums, that's exactly what they are. From a career that began as a low-rent lark following drinks at a Chinese restaurant, The B-52s inadvertently formed the core of the new wave movement in the early 80's with their off-kilter sound...think "Rock Lobster".
The band would go on to chart their greatest hits in the early 90's with the release of "Love Shack", "Roam" and "Deadbeat Club". The B-52s recently released, Funplex, the band's first original album in six years, debuted at #11 on the Billboard charts in 2008, making it the second-highest charting B-52s album.
