Broken Hands, a new play by Moby Pomerance that debuted in The New York International Fringe Festival, will extend as part of the FringeNYC Encore Series. The show won both Outstanding Actor and Outstanding Playwriting at this year's festival, the only show to win more than one award.
Based on a true story,
Broken Hands takes place in 1950s London and, "revolves around George, a streetwise hustler, and his brother Mick, a mentally challenged boxer. In flashbacks alternating with present scenes, we experience the unfolding of the brothers' relationship, as Mick recognizes how his own dependency on George will ultimately lead to his brother's demise."
The cast features Fringe winner Cory Grant, Eric Miller, Tom Souhrada, Chuck Bradley, and Constance Zaytoun. Broken Hands is presented by Sorrel Tomlinson, who recently produced 2004 Fringe hit
Dog Sees God Off-Broadway at the Century Center. The show is directed by Marc Weitz.
