Lincoln Center Theater has extended the run of its award-winning production of Clifford Odets' Awake and Sing! through Sunday, June 25th at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44 Street). The production was originally scheduled through Sunday, June 11th.

Awake and Sing! began performances Friday, March 24th on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44 Street), the very theatre where the play had its world premiere in 1935. It opened on Monday, April 17th, and is being presented in celebration of the centenary of Odets, who also penned works such as Waiting for Lefty and The Country Girl.

Lauren Ambrose ("Six Feet Under"), Mark Ruffalo (films such as 13 Going on 30, off-Bway's This is Our Youth), Ben Gazzara (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Jonathan Hadary (All Shook Up, Gypsy), and Zoe Wanamaker (Electra, Piaf), as well as Ned Eisenberg, Peter Kybart, Pablo Schreiber and Richard Topol, star in the production, which is directed by Bartlett Sher.

"Awake and Sing!  is the story of a Jewish family in the Bronx who have fallen on hard times during the Depression. Widely considered Odets' masterpiece, the drama premiered
on Broadway in 1935 and, a resounding hit, was the legendary Group Theatre's first Broadway production," according to press notes.

The revival won the 2006 Drama League Award for Distinguished Revival of a Play and has been nominated for both the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Revival. The nine-member ensemble cast of the play was also awarded a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble.

Awake and Sing! has sets by Michael Yeargen, costumes by Catherine Zuber, lighting by Christopher Akerlind and sound by Peter John Still and Marc Salzberg.
