Austin Pendleton Directs Harold Pinter's ASHES TO ASHES at The Directors Studio, Now thru 12/3

Austin Pendleton will direct Harold Pinter's two person, full length play, Ashes to Ashes with Diane Love and Kevin O'Brien for a limited engagement at The Directors Studio, a division of The Directors Company.

When Ashes to Ashes opened in 1996 in London, Michael Billington of the Guardian raved, "an extraordinarily powerful work: elusive, mesmeric, disturbing." The play takes place in the pleasant living room of Rebecca and Devlin. Devlin unnerved by his wife's allusions to an abusive lover asks for an explanation only to be drawn into her descriptions of what seem to be horrific historic events, never knowing what is fact and what is a figment of her imagination.

The limited engagement runs tonight, November 25, December 2 & 9 at 7:00 PM and November 26 and December 3 at 8:30pm.

There will be a talk-back with Mr. Pendleton and the cast after the two Monday evening performances.

Austin Pendleton is both a director and an actor. Most recently he directed Detroit at The National Theatre in London and is currently directing Chekov's Ivanov at the Classic Stage Company. He directed Elizabeth Taylor in Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes for which he was nominated for a Tony Award. He has won both a Drama Desk Award and an Obie Award for his work as an actor. He currently teaches at the HB Studio in New York City.

DIANE LOVE has had a varied career in the arts. She started as a designer with her own business, called Diane Love. She has written two books on design. She is also a painter, photographer and playwright. She hopes to have her play, Twin Sweets produced in the next year after a very successful reading in the fall. As an actor she was a member of The Worth Street Theatre Company for seven years and worked closely with the artistic director Jeff Cohen. She appeared Off Broadway in The Seagull the Hamptons, with Marin Hinkle and in Richard Greenberg's, Life Under Water. Her film work has included several independent features: one soon to be released entitled, Wallabout. She is delighted to be working with Austin in Ashes to Ashes.
