The Actors' Fund Auction of 1000 Stars 2005 kicked off on Monday, July 18th, and a number of other events and benefits are still planned for the rest of July, August and September.

The Auction of 1000 Stars, a two-week, online auction presented by The Actors' Fund of America in partnership with Yahoo!, offers theatre lovers the chance to bid on Broadway memorabilia and shows, celebrity meetings and much more; it lasts through August 1st and all proceeds benefit The Actors' Fund, a 123 year-old human service organization that offers a variety of crucial programs and support to entertainment professionals in need.

The once-in-a-lifetime experiences and memorabilia up for auction include (to date):  a day on the set of CBS's "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," FOXs "Arrested Development," ABCs "One Life to Live" or MTV's "Total Request Live," a private Shakespearean acting class with the legendary Lynn Redgrave, a private voice lesson with singing sensation Josh Groban, tickets to the The Grammy Awards, VIP day with the Mets at Shea Stadium, walk-on roles in Chicago, The Phantom of the Opera, Rent and Mamma Mia!, a Gibson guitar signed by Johnny Depp, a Michael Reagan autobiography signed by former President Ronald Reagan, tickets to Broadway openings, a 2006 Saab 9-7X Linear SUV with Factory Equipped On-Star, and more than 150 Playbills signed by stars of stage and screen.  In fact, hundreds of autographed memorabilia will be up for bids, including items signed by Debbie Reynolds, Natasha Richardson, Julie Andrews, Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Hugh Jackman and Nathan Lane.

A number of Broadway plays and musicals, too, will host Sunday benefit performances for The Actors' Fund--Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on July 24th, the closing night of Steel Magnolias on July 31st, The Pillowman on August 7th, and Glengarry Glen Ross on August 14th.  In addition,
a one-night-only benefit concert of the Cy Coleman-Betty Comden-Adolph Green classic On the Twentieth Century will be presented on Monday, September 26th.
