One Windy City "knight" will have the good fortune of joining the new, vibrant touring production of Lerner and Loewe's Camelot for one-night only while the show is in Chicago, May 1 -13, at the LaSalle Bank Theatre. The cast and crew of Camelot will auction off a walk-on role to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS as part of the Broadway community's annual spring fundraising drive.
The winning bidder will take the stage during either the May 10 or 11 performance of the musical. The auction winner also receives his or her very own Excalibur sword (identical to the one used by King Arthur), two tickets to that evening's performance, a signed photo of Sir Michael York, a show poster autographed by the entire company, and a gift certificate to Wolfgang Puck's Grand Cafe in Evanston. Handcrafted exclusively for the national tour, the sword is one of only two of its kind in the world.
Complete details about the online auction as well as a list of the rules and regulations are available at this link. The walk-on role is open to adults aged 18 or over and the auction winner must be available for a costume fitting in advance of the performance.
