Atlantic Theater Company's Atlantic Stage 2 has announced the world premiere production of Keith Reddin's play Human Error, directed by Tracy Brigden and featuring Meg Gibson, Tim Guinee and Ray Anthony Thomas.
The play will begin previews Wednesday, August 1st for an official opening on Wednesday, August 8th and a limited engagement through Sunday, August 26th, 2007 off-Broadway at Atlantic Stage 2 (330 West 16th Street).
Human Error marks the final production of the 2006-2007 Atlantic Stage 2 season at the company's second stage theater where two new works are staged each season. Kate Robin's play Anon. opened on January 31, 2007 and played a limited engagement through February 18, 2007. 10X20, a one-act festival of plays commissioned by notable playwrights whose work Atlantic has produced over the past two decades, inaugurated the theater last June.
Reddin's world premiere play Human Error "concerns the aftermath of a plane crash, where two investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board find themselves surprisingly involved in the life of a survivor. As they search for the cause of the disaster, they find themselves drawn together in a romantic entanglement which leaves them both changed and shaken," as press notes describe the play.Reddin returns to Atlantic following the New York premiere production of his play Frame 312. Reddin was also featured in the inaugural Stage 2 one act festival 10X20 last summer, for which he wrote the play Mutterliebe. His plays include Brutality of Fact, Life and Limb, Rum and Coke, Highest Standard of Living, Big Time, Nebraska, All the Rage, Almost Blue, Life During Wartime and The Innocents' Crusade. Tracy Brigden is the Artistic Director of City Theatre in Pittsburgh, where she most recently directed the world premiere of Keith Reddin's The Missionary Position.
Human Error marks Atlantic ensemble member Ray Anthony Thomas' sixth production with the company, where he also appeared in Edmond, The Lights, Distant Fires, Beginning of August and Force Continuum. He received an Obie Award for his performance in Volunteer Man, also directed by Tracy Brigden. Meg Gibson has appeared in numerous off-Broadway productions including The Ride Down Mt. Morgan at the Public Theater and From Above at Playwright's Horizons. She will soon be seen in Steven Soderbergh's feature film Guerrilla. Tim Guinee received critical acclaim for his starring role in Ali Selim's award-winning independent film Sweet Land and can be seen in the upcoming feature film Broken English directed by Zoe Cassavetes. On the New York stage, he has appeared in SubUrbia at Lincoln Center and Twelfth Night and Richard II at the Public Theater.
