Core Dance will continue its 2017-18 season with choreographer D. Patton White's beautiful and raw new piece, July 13, 2016: 4:10 PM ("7/13"). Inspired by the UNEXPECTED and untimely death of White's brother, and the third movement of Ralph Vaughn Williams' Symphony Number 5 in D Major, "7/13" will engage audiences and challenge their views of memorial, memory and relationship. The performances will be on March 1 - 3, 2018 at 8:00pm at The B-Complex in Atlanta, Georgia. Tickets are $15 and are available at coredance.org.

After the passing of his brother, Claiborne, on July 13, 2016 at 4:10pm, D. Patton White began the creative process for "7/13." Over a four-week period, White and the dancers of Core Performance Company listened to Vaughn Williams' Symphony No. 5, which many scholars and musicologists believe to be a respite from the horrors of war and grief, responded to the music through visual art and drawing, and began to share stories of personal relationships in their own lives. Movement themes emerged, and White began to craft the piece in its final stages.

Parts of this unique performance are designed to be an interactive experience, and audience members will be invited to join the dancers as they create spaces for reflection and creativity. When the piece begins, the audience will shift into a more passive, observing role.

D. Patton White danced in Core Performance Company for 18 years prior to becoming the company's Company Manager. He is a regular instructor for Core Dance's Morning Class and now brings his artistry as a "Dance Maker" to the Company.
