The new stars of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt began rehearsals in New York today, December 12th, under the direction of Tony Award-winner Doug Hughes.

Eileen Atkins (Sister Aloysius), Ron Eldard (Father Flynn) and Jena Malone (Sister James) will start performances on Tuesday, January 10 at the Walter Kerr Theatre (219 West 48th Street). Cherry Jones, Brían F. O'Byrne and Heather Goldenhersh will play their final performance on Sunday, January 8. Original cast member and Tony Award-winner Adriane Lenox will continue in the role of Mrs. Muller.

Doubt is written by John Patrick Shanley, and directed by Doug Hughes. The production was the most honored play of the 2004-2005 season, receiving the 2005 Tony Award for Best Play and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, among a number of others. " Set against the backdrop of a Bronx Catholic school in 1964, Doubt is the story of a strong-minded woman faced with a difficult decision. Should she voice concerns about one of her male colleagues…even if she's not entirely certain of the truth?," state press notes.

Doubt's set design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design is by Catherine Zuber, lighting design is by Pat Collins, and original music and sound design is by David Van Tieghem. Doubt is produced by Carole Shorenstein Hays, MTC Productions Inc. (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove, Executive Producer), Roger Berlind and Scott Rudin.

The performance schedule is Tuesday through Saturday at 8:00 PM, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00 PM, and Sunday at 3:00 PM. Tickets are available by calling Telecharge.com at 212: 239-6200 or at the Walter Kerr Theatre box office (219 West 48th Street).
