ArtsWest Playhouse and Gallery announces the appointment of Susanna Bluhm as its new Gallery Manager, effective June 11, 2012.
Susanna Bluhm is an artist, educator and member of SOIL artist-run gallery in Pioneer Square. After earning her MFA in Painting at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, she was awarded artist residencies at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin and at the Karl Hofer Gesellschaft in Berlin. Bluhm’s work has been shown internationally, and she is affiliated with Prole Drift gallery in Seattle. Her varied background includes teaching art to teens and kids at Gage Academy of Art, the Nature Consortium, and Westside School in Seattle, as well as to undergraduates at the University of Illinois, and directing the Affordable Art Sale in Champaign, Illinois. Since its opening in 2006, she has been a resident of Cooper Artist Housing at Youngstown Cultural Arts Center.
Bluhm looks forward to facilitating connections between West Seattle’s art community and the greater Seattle art communities in her role as Gallery Manager at ArtsWest.
