ArtsRock concludes its Spring 2014 Season with the Guitar Magic Series at the Nyack Library on Friday, May 30th at 8pm. Well-known contemporary guitarists will pay tribute to the masters of the instrument presenting a celebration of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The series is hosted and curated by Jeff Doctorow and will feature Blind Mice and Still Saffire.
Blind Mice is three singer-songwriters based in Woodstock, NY playing three-part harmony. Instrumentation is Dorraine Scofield on mandolin, acoustic guitar and fiddle, Joe Veillette on 12-string guitars and Mike McDonough on fretless bass and harmonica. Members have recorded or performed with John Sebastian, Eddie Money, Jorma Kaukonen/Hot Tuna, Leon Russell, Pete Seeger, Todd Rundgren, Kathy Mattea, Steve Forbert, NRBQ, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Dr. John, Charlie Daniels, Roy Orbison and many others.
Still Saffire is an indie-rock band coming together of two sets of 16 to 19 year old sisters (Annika and Soreya/Sonya and Charlotte) who perform covers and original songs that are engaging and relevant, coupled with a sophistication and maturity that belies their youth. The band's catchy, harmony-filled tunes have brought them to the stages of Lincoln Center ('Out of Doors' summer concert series), BAM, NYU, The Knitting Factory, Rutgers University, Columbia University, The Hit Factory, and many other great venues in the New York Tri-state area.
