Acclaimed urban folk singer-songwriter JEN CHAPIN and the chamber rock-pop indie band, Life in a Blender will be performing this summer as a part of Arts Brookfield's upcoming lunchtime concert series.
On July 2, Chapin will perform tunes from her catalogue, including her "lush" (Los Angeles Times) new album Reckoning. Jen's performances are powerful, spotlighting the world-class musicianship and rare chemistry of Grammy-nominated acoustic bassist/husband Stephan Crump, "unflappable melodist" (New York Times), Jamie Fox (guitar) and "highly regarded" (All Music) drummer Dan Rieser.

The eclectic chamber-pop rock band LIFE IN A BLENDER has been the canvas for singer and songwriter Don Rauf's blackly comic landscapes. The group has released eight albums ranging from screaming punk to orchestrated chamber pop, and has brought the high theatrics of its live act to stages from Berlin to Austin to Toronto to Brooklyn and Seattle. Their new album, We Already Have Birds That Sing, is receiving high praise and earning comparisons to Captain Beefheart, Modest Mouse and Tom Waits, among others. Gersh Kuntzman, New York Daily News raved, "As a songwriter, Don Rauf is a manic combination of Alice Cooper and F. Scott Fitzgerald...The new album, We Already Have Birds That Sing mines new gold out of Rauf's vein."
