Artlog, the pre-eminent site devoted to sharing and discussing visual culture in its many forms, hosted its annual kickoff party for Art Miami, the première international modern and contemporary art fair and anchor fair for the City of Miami at Kyle DeWoody and Manish Vora's SoHo gallery, Grey Area on Thursday November 15. The evening also celebrated the launch of Art Miami's new sister art fair CONTEXT Art Miami, devoted to showcasing emerging and mid-career cutting edge artists.

Currently exhibiting "Americana" a provocative collection of new works ranging from Brian Kenny's Deconstructed Flag 3 to Jameson Ellis' Sniper Rifle, DeWoody and Vora's loft gallery was the ideal setting for the several hundred guests eager to learn more about Art Miami's expansion this year. Art Miami LLC Director – Partner Nicholas Korniloff and Pamela Cohen, Director of VIP Relations & Sponsorships were on hand to speak about the doubling in size of this year's fair with the addition of CONTEXT. Art Miami will show a staggering 125 of the world's most prominent modern and contemporary galleries and CONTEXT will present 65 of the most emerging and cutting edge galleries.

Sipping seaside style cocktails and listening to DJ Jess Hodin, guests buzzed about many of the two fair's highlights: Banksy Out Of Context, the rare showing of 5 major pieces by the mysterious and elusive British graffiti artist Banksy; The Art Video | New Media Lounge which will present a hand-picked selection of video art sourced from museums, private collections and art institutions around the globe curated by La Rete Project founders Julia Draganovic and Claudia Loffelholz and Nicholas Cohn's exhibition "Social Structures" which will explore the theme of architecture as a reflection of society, featuring photographs of sacred temples by Kenro Izu, mixed media images of war-torn cities by Susanne Slavick, and photo-realistic paintings of the rebuilt world financial center by Antonio Petracca; Peter Anton's "Sugar & Gomorrah" the world's first art installation where the viewer can ride from beginning to end of the exhibition in a carnival ride car while viewing a Sodom and Gomorrah-like world created entirely by the artist; a special showing of the works of acclaimed Chinese artist Ma Desheng and "Soul of Seoul"curated by Bernice Steinbaum an exhibition which explores the essence of Korean artistic sensibility - the commingling of daily life and nature and

Of course, the usual debate of where to stay pitted South Beach against the mainland hostelries closer to the action with the Kimpton Hotel's Epic Miami the Official Luxury Hotel of Art Miami being the hands down favorite for serious fair-goers, collectors and curators. Then again, quipped one guest, with Art Miami's Official Luxury Real Estate sponsor Christie's International Real Estate one could do a little high end real estate shopping for that perfect oceanside manse to hang those mammoth paintings.

Among the crowd were art consultant Jill Clark, curator Nick Cohn, Gene Bradley & Kelly Smith, Gary & Catherine Andreassen, Dawne Marie Grannum, Caroline Lieberman, Mia Baxter, Michael Vaughn, Harry Smail, Lauren Donnelly, Rebecca Brereton, Rubin Shafir & Katriona MacGiver, Stephanie Millar and scores more.
