Artist/Producer, Marina Kamen shares the "real" legs behind the "Dames at Sea" Tappers Onstage Contest.

Why all young Entertainers need to have that "thick skin" in Show Biz!

Dorothy Sapyta - The 'Real' Legs Behind the 'Dames at Sea' Tappers Onstage Contest

Along with over 100 tap dance hopefuls, with blue short flowing mini skirt, tan tights and silver classic strappy tap shoes, Dorothy Sapyta showed up ready to "tap those troubles away" at the Dames at Sea on stage Contest held at the Helen Hayes Theatre in NYC.

Still a teenager, this 5 foot 9 inch blond beauty is a classically trained dancer in Ballet, Jazz & Tap, and has already appeared in numerous Television shows, Theater projects and commercial productions. Ms. Saptya is also a trained vocalist that coaches in the recording studio at the Award winning Kamen Entertainment Group, Inc. Production Studios in NYC.

Dorothy has studied with the best dance instructors in the dance community including the legendary LUIGI who passed away this year and was honored at The Tony Awards. Dorothy studied since the age of 9 with this Jazz Dance iconic Jazz teacher.

In addition to various wonderful teachers at Broadway Dance Center and all around NYC, Dorothy has also studied tap dance with Justin Boccitto, Crystal Chapman & Rhonda Malkin. Check out pictures on Page 2.

Ms. Sapyta also recently completed her third season of the "Rockettes Summer Intensive Program" in NYC.

"As an entertainer, writer, Director & Producer that has pounded the pavement here in NYC since the 60s and been fortunate to work in this industry, I can tell you that Dorothy has the work ethic that will take her far!" ( Marina Kamen quote)...." always be prepared for that "Left hook". Crediting is always tricky. The good news is that if you have the talent and training, you will always have opportunity. Everyday is a new one and filled with new chances to be seen:).

Dorothy and others who have experienced being on a set or on a stage with video cameras rolling, is one of many who is never prepared to see the finale footage without their facial image in the frame. As a difficult life and hard ride that a young person takes in this the entertainment industry, one must have a thick skin to say the least and be ready to bounce back and dance forward with an open heart, passion and a positive attitude no matter what unexpected chances come with unexpected finales.

DAMES AT SEA will feature scenic design by three-time Tony Award nominee Anna Louizos (In The Heights, Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella), costume design by two-time Tony Award nominee David C. Woolard (West Side Story, The Rocky Horror Show), lighting design by Tony Award winner Ken Billington (Chicago, Act One) and Jason Kantrowitz ([title of show]), sound design by Tony Award winner Scott Lehrer (South Pacific, The King & I), and casting by Binder Casting.
