Actress and musician ROCKY VEGA brings her powerhouse persona to the Emerging Artists Theatre Festival for her special one-night-only performance of "Tangled in the Reins" at TADA! Theater on Wednesday, October 1st, at 7pm.
Making this her debut solo show, Rocky combines her dynamic voice with arrangements of music ranging from Lady Gaga to Brandi Carlile. Coupled with written works interspersed throughout of her own, Rocky uses several forms of storytelling to bring her story of traveling throughout Southeast Asia and Australia to life for what's to be an entertaining and exciting evening of new work. Touted an "up-and-comer," Rocky premieres her show under the musical direction of Jeremy Robin Lyons and Joe Cogen on the drums.
"I'm thrilled to be blending both music and acting," explains Rocky. "I wanted to create a unique night combing the two art forms in my own way to heighten this particular story for the theater."
A native New Yorker, Rocky is no stranger to the New York arts scene. She studied at Wellesley College and while there also trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, the O'Neill Center and the American Conservatory Theater. Making her home in the world of theater and music, Rocky has performed a diverse set of roles, from Petra/Monica in "Boleros for the Disenchanted" to Viola in "Twelfth Night." She has also appeared in numerous Off-Broadway productions and performed at the American Theatre of Actors, 54 Below and Don't Tell Mama, in addition to playhouses around the country, bringing her talents and electrically charged performances to all audience members alike.
