Ars Nova (Jason Eagan, Artistic Director; Jon Steingart and Jenny Wiener Steingart, Executive Producers) announced today that, due to overwhelming demand, the deadline for submissions to ANT FEST 09 has been extended to Friday, June 19.
As previously announced, ANT FEST 09 is a five-week festival of craziness showcasing fresh material from today's most exciting emerging artists. Ars Nova is on the prowl for talented artists from all disciplines who see the future of live entertainment and want the chance to show off their skills. If the show can be performed live on stage, Ars Nova is interested.
(Almost) anything goes, but curators are particularly interested in edgy, offbeat, charged performances that tell a story, make you laugh, showcase musicians with a vibrant new sound, or blur the boundaries between theater, music and comedy. The best thirty submissions representing a broad cross-section of live entertainment will be given a night to perform in Ars Nova's intimate, 99-seat theater, and will be a part of artist-driven parties and events throughout the festival.
Interested artists should submit a description of their evening (one page max), a script, CD or DVD if available, and directions to any online material. Application forms and more information are available at www.arsnovanyc.com.
Applications must be postmarked by June 19. Artists chosen for the festival will be notified by September 8.
