After launching more than 400 national and international world-premiere solo comedies, The People's Improv is Theater is seeking submissions for SOLOCOM 2017, which runs November 16-19, 2017. Applications open today, August 16th, 2017.
The Peoples Improv Theater proudly announces the return of SOLOCOM, following last year's record-breaking festival, which debuted over 140 world premieres. The PIT once again presents all new solo comedies from national and international solo performers. SOLOCOM was co-created by award-winning solo show artist Peter Michael Marino (Desperately Seeking the Exit; Show Up).
Now entering its fifth year, SOLOCOM is a unique solo show festival that has launched over 400 new solo comedies that have gone on to longer runs, tours and festivals around the world. This 4-day festival in NYC takes place in 3.5 spaces at The Peoples Improv Theater in the Flatiron District and at The PIT Loft in Chelsea from November 16 - 19, 2017.
Marino and The PIT created SOLOCOM to provide artists with a platform in which to generate new comedic solo material. Dozens of shows that made their debut at SOLOCOM 2013-2016 have gone on to tour the world and play at various festivals including Edinburgh Fringe, Hollywood Fringe, NC Comedy Arts Festival, Philly Fringe, Scranton Fringe and Orlando Fringe. Gary Busey's One-Man Hamlet as Performed by David Carl began at SOLOCOM before becoming the breakout hit of The New York International Fringe, transferring to Edinburgh, followed by critically acclaimed runs in NYC and Chicago.
SOLOCOM 2017 applications are now open and can be submitted at thepit-nyc.com/festivals.
