On Thursday, August 18th, Tony Award-nominated Sweet Charity star Christina Applegate will make two successive TV appearances--on "Good Day New York" on Fox 5 at 7:45 AM ET and on WB 11's Morning News at 8:40 AM ET.

In addition, Applegate ("Married with Children," Emmy Award-winner for "Friends," The Sweetest Thing, Anchorman) will respond to questions posed by fans; her responses will be aired on a video interview that will appear exclusively on the revival's website. Also starring
Tony Award-winner Denis O'Hare as Oscar, the show is a revival of the classic musical about a tough but vulnerable taxi dancer who keeps hope alive no matter how many times her heart is trampled. After three (rather tumultuous) out-of-town engagements in Minneapolis, Chicago and Boston, the show began preview performances in New York on April 11th and opened on May 4th. The revival received 3 Tony Award nominations, 4 Outer Critics' Circle Award nominations and 4 Drama Desk nominations, with O'Hare receiving the Drama Desk Award for Featured Actor in a Musical. The musical also stars Janine LaManna as Nickie, Kyra Da Costa as Helene, with Rob Bartlett as Herman and Paul Schoeffler as Vittorio.

With a (revised) book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, Sweet Charity is based on Federico Fellini's screenplay (with Tullio Pinelli and Ennio Flaiano) for his film Nights of Cabiria. The production is directed by Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago), choreographed by Tony Award-winner Wayne Cilento (The Who's Tommy, Wicked) and is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler and Clear Channel Entertainment in association with Edwin W. Schloss.  Scott Pask (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Brian MacDevitt (lighting), and Peter Hylenski (sound) are on the design team; Don York is the musical director and Don Sebesky is responsible for orchestrations.

Sweet Charity originally opened at the Palace Theatre on January 29th, 1966 in a production that was staged by the legendary Bob Fosse and starred the equally renowned Gwen Verdon in the title role; it ran for 608 performances.

Starting on September 4th, Sweet Charity will play performances on Sundays at 2 PM and 7 PM; otherwise, the performance schedule remains the same. Tickets (which range from $56.25 to $101.25) can be purchased at Telecharge.com or by calling 212-239-6200.
