AntiGravity Plays Hammerstein Ballroom, June 27-July 1

After playing to sold-out houses across the U.S. this spring, Performance Art Group AntiGravity is returning from a U.S. Spring Tour to play a weeklong engagement of AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour at Manhattan Center's Hammerstein Ballroom (311 West 34th Street), from Wednesday, June 27 through Sunday, July 1, 2007. 

AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour is the company's fourth full-length original production, after 2001's AntiGravity's Crash Test Dummies, which sold out a limited run at the New Victory Theatre Theatre on 42nd Street, 2002's AntiGravity: An American Band which debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and ran through the Olympics, and the following year's The AntiGravity Party, which sold out its engagement at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles. The group recent repelled eight performers from the top of Rockefeller Center for the premiere of Spider-Man 3 earlier this month.

Press releases state, "For more than 15 years, AntiGravity has astounded audiences around the world with its high-energy theatrics and astonishing aerial performances. Its troupe of international champion athletes defy more than the laws of physics - merging athletics and aesthetics into a breathtaking and shocking live-performance art form," continuing, "AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour is an edgy, action-packed display of heart-pounding physicality and audacious beauty in AntiGravity's unique style, melding aerial acrobatics, extreme sports and urban dance with technology and popular culture. This full-scale show promises to be a highly visceral experience and a wildly fun night of awe-inspiring, death-defying levity set to the biggest names in pop music."

AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour is conceived, directed and choreographed by founder Christopher Harrison (in collaboration with Team AntiGravity), with a creative team including costume design by Shelly Bomb, lighting design by Herrick Goldman, rigging design by AntiGravity Aerials Inc. and sound design by John Smith.

Performances of AntiGravity: The 2007 Tour are Wednesday, June 27 through Sunday, July 1 at 8 p.m., with an additional 3 p.m. matinee on Saturday, June 30. Tickets for the orchestra level viewing are $35, and are general admission (all standing-room, no seating), and tickets for the two balcony tiers (reserved seating) are $40-45.

Beginning Monday, May 14 (10 a.m.), tickets will be available at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 212-307-4100. Tickets may also be purchased in-person at the Hammerstein Ballroom Box Office. Box Office hours are 5 p.m. until show time each day. On Saturday, June 29, the Box Office opens at noon.
