Deadline.com reports that actor Anthony LaPaglia will star in the upcoming ABC drama pilot AMERICANA. The pilot will tell the story of "an iconic fashion designer Robert Soulter (LaPaglia), the patriarch of a sprawling family who just welcomed a new member, a young designer whose shocking arrival turns the family and the legendary label inside out." The script was penned by Michael Seitzman and Phillip Noyce.

The pilot will mark LaPaglia's return to TV after his starring role on the long-running CBS drama series 'Without a Trace' for which he earned a Golden Globe Award.

LaPaglia rose to stardom with a mix of classic roles on stage and screen including On the Open Road at the Public Theater, So I Married an Axe Murderer with Mike Myers, The Rose Tattoo on Broadway with Mercedes Ruehl, The Client with Susan Sarandon, and Lantana for which he won the prestigious Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor, culminating with his Tony Award-winning turn in Arthur Miller's 1998 revival of A View from the Bridge. He recently starred in the Ken Ludwig comedy 'Lend Me a Tenor', co starring  Tony Shalhoub, Justin Bartha, Brooke Adams, Mary Catherine Garrison, Jennifer Laura Thompson, Jay Klaitz, and Jan Maxwell.

In addition to his starring TV role on "Without a Trace", LaPaglia received an Emmy Award for his guest starring appearance on NBC's "Frasier."
