Annie Golden & Susannah Perkins to Lead Industry Reading of THE EXCAVATION OF MARY ANNING

The Dennis & Victoria Foundation (DVRF) will present an industry reading of Ian August's The Excavation of Mary Anning as part of their 2018 Playwrights Program. The reading stars Susannah Perkins (The Wolves, The Low Road) and Annie Golden (Violet, Hair, Orange is the New Black), and is directed by Sammi Cannold (Ragtime on Ellis Island).

The cast also includes Mirirai Sithole (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play, The Homecoming Queen), Aviva Winick (Matilda), Patrena Murray (A Winter's Tale, Venus) & Brittany K. Allen (The Place We Built, Minor Character).

The Excavation of Mary Anning is based on the true story of 19th century fossil hunter Mary Anning (Perkins) and her fight for recognition in the paleontological community. It was selected by DVRF to receive a 29-hour reading out of a pool of nearly 500 submissions from playwrights around the country.

DVRF is a non-profit foundation organized and operated for educational purposes, including support for public debate and discussion on topics of and the promotion of emerging artists working in the theater, film, music, and visual arts. The Foundation intends to seek out and produce work of artistic merit that has not yet or would not otherwise receive commercial sponsorship.
