In an all-new interview in today's Variety, Hollywood A-lister Anna Kendrick discusses her role as 'Cinderella' in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of INTO THE WOODS and much more! (Have you seen the new trailer featuring Kendrick in THE LAST FIVE YEARS? Check it out here!)

The 'Pitch Perfect' star revealed how she became highly emotional THE FIRST TIME she viewed director Rob Marshall's finished product on the big screen. "I saw it on a day that I was just beyond the pale exhausted. I basically wept the entire way through it," She shared. "and I got on the phone with Rob Marshall afterward, and I was like-"If I manage to get through this conversation without crying on the phone with you it'll be the hardest thing I ever did." She adds, "The movie is beautiful and sad. I hope you cry."

Recalling her audition for the project, Kendrick comments, "They did a workshop in New York and my agent asked me to put myself on tape. First of all, I thought I would be auditioning for Little Red, because normally, that's played by a grown woman. When he told me I would be auditioning for Cinderella that was a mental adjustment."

Kendrick also explains how she ended up doing back to back movie musicals in just the last few years. "I didn't actually plan to make a bunch of musical movies in a row," she begins, "But "Into The Woods" and "The Last Five Years" are two of the greatest pieces of musical theater ever, so obviously it was a dream come true. I think I would enter into something else cautiously."

Asked if she would consider taking on another big screen musical, she quips, "I can't think of anything. I played that game with myself once, but that's why I'm not a producer. Maybe somebody will prove me wrong."

INTO THE WOODS hits theaters on December 25th. The film is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy) - all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden & Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them.

Rob Marshall, the talented filmmaker behind the Academy Award-winning musical "Chicago" and Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: OnStranger Tides," helms the film, which is based on the Tony-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics.
