Ann Marie DeAngelo has an illustrious professional career as an International Director, Choreographer, Producer, Teacher and performer that spans over three decades. Ann Marie DeAngelo is at the forefront of her field and is an expert in all types of dance. She has worked around the world as a former dancer, and now as an in demand choreographer, director, and producer. A former star of the Joffrey Ballet, she was featured in TIME Magazine as one of America's most outstanding ballerinas.
Some of Ms. DeAngelo's recent activity includes the Capezio's 130th Anniversary Show and Awards in Las Vegas. This expansive production was hosted by Nigel Lythgoe and the performances ranged from Cirque du Soleil; DNA from Jennifer Lopez's "World of Dance"; Travis Wall's Shaping Sound; Wendy Whelan; SYTYCD winner Lex Istimoto; and a Work by Mandy Moore and well as presentations to Debbie Allen, David Parsons and others to name just a few in this special one night only acclaimed event.
Ann Marie recently returned from China (Beijing premier) and Inner Mongolia with "Dream City" - a musical based on Kubla Kahn that she choreographed. This was the latest of her works created in the Far East these past years.
She is an in demand teacher. Last year her guide-book "Produce Yourself!" -for dancers on and off stage as well as a system of teaching choreography through the perspective of Focus was published.
DeAngelo's radical new program and documentary - Something to Say: Origins of evolution is in development. And she is currently putting together with her collaborators in film and video a retrospective of dance.
The vast career of Ann Marie DeAngelo includes Artistic Director of Ballet D'Angelo - which toured extensively in Europe; the founding Artistic Director of Ballet de Monterrey, Mexico; and Associate Director of the Joffrey Ballet. Ms. DeAngelo has choreographed over 70 works including a new musical that premiered at the Shanghai Expo 2010 (China). Her creation of "The Bell Witch" ghost-story was nominated for a Benois de la Danse Award and performed at the Bolshoi Theater, in Moscow.
Under DeAngelo Productions Ann Marie has produced and directed thirteen mutli-style, multi-genra dance-extravaganza shows for the annual Career Transition For Dancers galas at City Center in New York; as well those for the Capezio's 125th Anniversary and the recent 130th anniversary production in Las Vegas. These acclaimed productions have presented a cornucopia of all types of dance!
Some of her film and television credits include: dancer / choreographer, "Sesame Street" with choreographer Toni Basil; Fashion TV Awards; and choreography and the lead role in the Canadian Broadcasting Company film Pavlova. She teaches for numerous dance companies, universities and summer courses. Through DeAngelo's recent book "Produce Yourself! Stand Up! Step Up! & Move!" she presents a rich dance/life metaphor work that serves as a useful tool for anyone seeking the courage to realizing their goals.
