Tony Award nominated actress Anita Gillette (Chapter Two, Moonstruck, 30 Rock, Modern Family) joins Christopher Cartmill, Bradley Clarkson and Jeff Knapp in a private reading on November 13 of '41N 50W', a new play adapted and written by Robert Neal Marshall.
'41N 50W' refers to the last reported position of the White Star Liner TITANIC before she sank at 2.20am on 15th April 1912 during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York. This disaster and the loss of lives on this seemingly invincible vessel shocked those on both sides of the Atlantic and over 100 years later still continues to hold a beguiling fascination.
'41N 50W' is a documentary style historical drama based on over 1,100 pages of actual testimony from the 1912 Senate Hearings that began in New York's Waldorf Astoria four days after the disaster and only one day after stunned survivors arrived on the rescue ship Carpathia. '41N 50W' is not a retelling of this familiar story, but uniquely focuses on key players and rescue efforts surrounding the tragedy. Pieces of a puzzle fit together as Michigan Senator William Alden Smith and those involved unravel the truth.
Actor/Director Norma Atallah helms the reading which will be held at Ken Davenport Studios. '41N 50W' is presented by RNM Productions following a successful reading last Fall at the new St. James Theatre in London, United Kingdom.
Anita Gillette will present her own autobiographical one woman show AFTER ALL at the Metropolitan Room, December 9-10 & 16-17, 2013 at 7pm. For further information about '41N 50W', visit the website www.41N50W.com.
