Anhedonia Road, billed as "a story told at the intersection of Don Quixote, The Wizard of Oz, Huckleberry Finn, and 'The Twilight Zone,'" will play from January 18th through 28th at the Metropolitan Playhouse (220 E. 4th St. NYC btw. Avenues A and B).

"From the creative team who served up the critically-acclaimed solo comedy, Some Kind of Pink Breakfast, comes this everyman's uncommon adventure to get the one thing we all want. Take a joyride with a cast of colorful characters through an alternate-reality heartland where no GPS can help you. Are you on the right road?," according to press materials.  Chris Harcum plays 12 characters in this "monologue cavalcade."

Bricken Sparacino directs the show, which features lighting design by Maryvel Bergen and sound design by Tasha Guevara.

Actor and playwright Chris Harcum (Some Kind of Pink Breakfast, and Gotham Standards) has performed  regionally, in NYC, and Canada. This production marks his 6th collaboration with director Bricken Sparacino. Anhedonia Road was first seen at The Brick's Hell Festival in August '04. It later became a finalist in Reverie Productions' Next Generation Playwriting Contest in May '05 and received a script-in-hand reading that summer at New Jersey Repertory Company.

Metropolitan Playhouse's Twainathon is their second annual festival of performances inspired by an American author. Performances encompass a wide range of theatrical styles, from musicals to monologues, from dance performances to full length plays. Some are based on Twain's work while others are inspired by his life, and still others inherit the artists sensibility. Additionally, each evening of the festival will lead off with a reading or recital of one of Twain's works. Twainathon is divided into seven different performances (the Rafts), each comprised of from one to three presentations. All in all, the Festival includes fourteen performances by artists inspired by Samuel Clemens. Anhedonia Road will be performed on the same evenings with The Man Who Corrupted Hadleyburg by Michael Bettencourt.

Anhedonia Road plays Jan. 18th at 7pm, Jan. 21st at 4pm, Jan. 24th at 7pm, and Jan. 28th at 7pm .
