The American Theatre Wing and XM Satellite Radio will present an interview with stage and screen legend Angela Lansbury on their weekly theatrical interview show, "Downstage Center," on XM's On Broadway (XM Channel 28). Lansbury will appear as the special guest on Friday, June 9 at 6 p.m. The show will repeat on Saturday, June 10 at noon, Sunday, June 11 at 7 p.m., and Wednesday, June 14 at midnight.
Lansbury most recently participated in a series of staged readings of Oscar and the Pink Lady at the Geffen Playhouse.
She has hosted the Tony Awards® telecast more than any other individual, with five programs: 1968, 1971, 1987, 1988, and 1989.
Perhaps best known her for work as TV sleuth Jessica Fletcher on "Murder, She Wrote," Lansbury is one of the most celebrated stars of the Broadway stage. She received Tony Awards for her performances in
Sweeney Todd, Gypsy, Dear World and
Mame, and she also appeared on Broadway in
Hotel Paradiso, A Taste of Honey, Anyone Can Whistle, The King and I and
A Little Family Business. Her numerous film credits include
Gaslight, The Picture of Dorian Gray and
The Manchurian Candidate, all of which brought the actress Academy Award nominations.
Each new "Downstage Center" program is regularly broadcast at 6 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays at noon, Sundays at 7 p.m. and Wednesdays at 12 a.m. (all times EST). Following the initial run on XM, each program is made available for free, on-demand, internationally on ATW's website,

In May and June, to mark the 100th interview and the 60th anniversary of the American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards®, XM 28 On Broadway will air a month-long series of encore broadcasts of "Downstage Center" featuring past Tony winners, airing nightly at 10 p.m. EST, 9 p.m. CDT, 8 p.m. GMT and 7 p.m. PST time beginning May 13 and continuing through June 10, the night before The Tony Awards.
The American Theatre Wing is best known as the creator of the Antoinette Perry "Tony" Awards®, which it presents annually with the League of American Theatres and Producers. The Wing's other activities, dedicated to recognizing excellence and supporting education in theatre, include its "Working in the Theater" Seminars, now in their 27th year of telecasts on CUNY TV in New York and on other national cable outlets; "Guides to Careers in the Theatre," a video series developed for schools and libraries; a grants and scholarship program to New York City schools and not-for-profit theatre companies, which has awarded more than $2.5 million since its inception; the Theatre Intern Group, a career development program for young professionals; and SpringboardNYC, a two-week college-to-career boot camp for young performers moving to NYC.
